Alpaca wool is warmer and lighter than sheep's wool, durable, hypoallergenic, wrinkle free, odor resistant, natural, and easy on the environment. It does not prick or scratch like sheep's wool, making it appropriate for babies and those with sensitive skin. Baby alpaca is an extra fine grade comparable in softness to cashmere and does not really come from a baby - it is from the first shearing of a one-year-old adult alpaca. Shearing is not harmful for alpacas and is necessary after winter's end to prevent them from overheating. The fur used in the trim is taken only from alpacas that expire from natural causes. This product was made by artisans in the Andes regions of South America.
